File Previewer: View Securely, Work Confidently 

In today's environment, protecting your client's data is a non-negotiable. With Request List Management’s File Previewer, your staff and engagement teams never have to unnecessarily download a sensitive document to their desktop again. The previewer allows you to instantly view any provided file for a fulfilled request within Suralink’s secure application environment and eliminates the risk associated with local file storage, helping you maintain a high bar for client data protection.

Enhanced efficiency for workpaper reviews 

Additionally, for our Workpaper Suite users, this feature unlocks a new level of efficiency:

  • Directly connect your Suralink Request List Management account.
  • Preview supporting documents and link them directly in your Excel workpapers.

Pinned & Tagged Comments: Clearer Client Communication

Building directly upon the security and efficiency of the new File Previewer, we've layered in Pinned & Tagged Comments to foster better, clearer communication with your clients—all within the secure Request List Management environment.

Eliminate Confusion and Reduce Back-and-Forth

The days of generic email chains and ambiguous requests are over. Within the previewer, engagement teams can now:

  • Pin Comments: Attach clarifying questions or requests for follow-up directly to a specific point in a client-provided document. This context-driven feedback eliminates client confusion about which part of the file needs attention.
  • Streamline Follow-Up: Use tagged comments to ensure the right person sees the feedback immediately, whether it's an internal team member or a client contact.
  • Seamless Workflow in Excel (for Workpaper Suite Users): Teams can utilize Pinned & Tagged comments with clients directly in their Excel workpapers as well without needing to switch back to an online browser to access Request List Management.

This update reduces administrative back-and-forth, improves client turnaround times, and ensures a smoother, more professional engagement experience.

AI-powered Ask Anything: Secure AI, Trusted Answers

We know that using AI requires absolute trust, especially when handling sensitive client data. Our Ask Anything feature is built with a security-first philosophy. There is no model training, no cross-customer sharing, and no permanent storage of your clients’ data used in any Suralink AI process. 

Instant Answers, Unprecedented Efficiency 

Your team can now interact with complex files as they would with a normal human expert. Once a client has uploaded a document to Request List Management, users can literally ask it anything. For example:

  • "What is the expiration date on the lease agreement?"
  • "What are the related debt covenants that an engagement team should be aware of?"
  • "What is the principal amount on the debt?"

This capability instantly pulls key information, allowing your engagement teams to bypass hours manually combing through and examining long documents. And unlike general AI tools, Suralink’s Ask Anything feature references exactly where the information came from within the source document. You can instantly review the original source, eliminating the risk of "AI hallucinations" and providing complete confidence in the answer.

Coming soon: This same capability will be available directly inside Workpaper Suite, allowing you to ask, extract, and validate information across multiple files at once.

Advanced Data Matching: Human Judgment, Automated 

The initial success of Workpaper Suite has helped engagement teams perform a wide range of procedures, from sample testing for revenue and expenses in audit to complex tax studies like R&D Tax Credits and Cost Segregation.

What’s New 

Based on client feedback, we've significantly enhanced our Data Matching logic. This update embeds more flexibility, enabling the tool to perform vouching and tracing that replicates human-level judgment, taking into account real-world complexities like materiality and minor data discrepancies.

  • Tolerance Ranges: For audit teams, you can now input your materiality or de minimis thresholds. The tool will successfully match documents if the amount is within your specified plus or minus band of the expected value, reflecting practical audit judgment.
  • Required Field Matching: Guarantee the integrity of your match by specifying a required field (e.g., invoice number). If this critical value isn't found, the match will not run, ensuring you only perform procedures on valid support documents.
  • Match Partial Text: Greatly reduce false negatives. The system will now match documents even if only a portion of the text is found. For example, "Alpha Construction LLC" will successfully match a document containing just "Alpha Construction".
  • Allow Close Matches: Account for typos and small one-off data entry errors. This feature sets a required similarity percentage (60–90%) for minor differences, allowing a successful match even if a single digit or character is slightly incorrect.

Sum Finder: Accuracy, Automated

Tying out financial statements during an audit, review, or compilation can be a painstaking, manual process. Workpaper Suite’s Sum Finder feature introduces a comprehensive, automated check that significantly cuts down on the time required for manager and partner review, accelerates draft turnaround, and allows reviewers to focus their time on more complex judgment areas rather than calculation errors.

Eliminate Human Error in Financial Statement Drafts 

Sum Finder provides a high degree of assurance and eliminates human error from key calculation checks by:

  • Verifying Footing and Cross-Footing: It automatically checks for accurate vertical (footing) and horizontal (cross-footing) sums across a provided set of financials.
  • Highlighting the Evidence: The feature highlights the sum total and clearly identifies the sequence of numbers that contribute to that sum, providing visual confirmation that the totals are accurate and easily traceable.

Additional updates to Workpaper Suite 

Sum Link 

The most recent update to Sum Link improves the way your teams can calculate totals for a client-provided support document. Now, by simply holding the Shift key, users can multi-select amounts within a file; the sum will dynamically update in the target cell, while the formula bar updates as well. This feature cuts down on manual data entry and makes tying out numbers quicker and more reliable.

Table Link 

One of the most tedious and error-prone parts of any engagement is manually copying structured data from client-provided documents like PDFs into Excel. Workpaper Suite’s Table Link feature eliminates this pain, allowing your teams to instantly pull clean, usable tables into your workflow.

Ever needed to pull in a general ledger or a set of financial statements in an Excel workbook? Table Link can literally do that with a single click. Use the "Link all tables" button to automatically extract and link tables or other similarly formatted information from any PDF or client document.

Looking ahead to early 2026, we're thrilled to announce two new features coming to Workpaper Suite that will further improve the engagement process and deliver significant workflow efficiencies for your team.

Coming Soon: Ask Anything in Excel and Extract Anything  

Accountants can now use the AI-powered feature inside Excel to instantly extract key details for a wide range of procedures, for example, tests of controls and walkthrough procedures. This integration allows you to ask questions to multiple documents at once, all while referencing and linking the sourced information directly within your workpapers.

Extract Anything 

The upcoming Extract Anything feature uses AI to instantly pull key pieces of information from multiple documents at once, regardless of format.

 

For example, a tax accountant can now batch-process W-2s to instantly pull first name, last name, wages, and withholdings, or an audit team can extract vendor names and invoice dates from a batch of invoices. Because this feature is powered by AI, it does not require a specific template or format, drastically accelerating data collection and eliminating human transcription errors across your engagements.
